ET4ALL

Saturday, April 22nd, 2017 I attended the ET4ALL conference at Mount Saint Mary College.  Im glad I took the time to attend this conference which was hosted by KAPPA DELTA PI. The conference started off by welcoming everyone to the ET4ALL, we were given breakfast and we sat and listened as a speaker from Texas spoke to us VIA Skype. We were able to obtain information on technology and how important it is in our every day lives. We learned how important it is to incorporate technology into our classrooms one day and the benefits that come along with using technology. ET4ALL was abbreviated for Educational Technology for Authentic Lifelong Learning. The speakers informed us of all the benefits technology has and how it allows students to become engaged and participate in the classroom using all different forms of technology.

After this speaker completed her session it was our turn to break up into our sessions. The first workshop I signed up for was the IPAD workshop. This IPAD session was to teach us future teachers how to increase student engagement within our classrooms one day.  The women in charge of this workshop was a teacher from Bishop Dunn. She provided each of us with an IPAD and showed us how easy it is to navigate through one. There were a number of APPS that Mrs. Perk used with her students within her classroom. Some of these APPS I have heard of before and have used within my teaching such as Kahoot and other APPS i've never heard of before but was able to learn a little bit about them and how engaging they are. I thought it was great that we had the opportunity to try some of them out and how she gave us feedback on how her students use them. One of the APPS i've never heard of is plicker. She also informed us of Kahoot and how at the end there is a result sheet based on how everyone did overall. I was able to learn little things I never learned before. I also thought it was awesome that you are able to pull up results to see what each student picked and or thought.

These APPS were able to show me all different ways I can engage students in activities in the classroom. I was able to learn how this teacher uses technology in her classroom each and everyday. She finds that the students are much more engaged using technology.  She also provided us with folders, pens, paper and information which i thought was very useful. We were able to take notes and jot down important information that we obtained from her time speaking with us. I thought this conference was very beneficial. It allowed me to learn about different apps and how to really incorporate technology within the classroom. I also thought it was great that this school was able to provide IPADS for each of the students in the classroom. I will 100% use these apps and forms of technology in my classroom some day. I obtained helpful and useful information that I will be able to use as a teacher one day. I am really glad I attended this conference.
